THIS QUESTION IS FOR THE NH TECHS OUT THERE. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW TC45 WITH A WOODS 9000 BACKHOE. OTHER THAN THE DEALER SWINGING MY GRADER BLADE INTO THE HOOD WHEN HE DELIVERED IT, THINGS ARE GREAT. I HAVE A NOISE COMING FROM THE HYDRO LINES THAT KINDA SOUNDS LIKE AIR IN THE LINES? ITS SORT OF LIKE A RATTLING AND YOU CAN FEEL IT OFF AND ON WHEN YOUR HAND IS ON THE HARD HYDRO PIPING. IT GET LOUDER AND MORE FREQUENT WHEN YOU TURN UP THE RPMS. I CURRENTLY HAVE ONLY A DOZEN HOURS ON IT. THIS IS NOT THE TYPICAL WHINE YOU HEAR WHEN MOVING. IT DOES IT AT IDLE OR WHEN MOVING. ANY IDEAS???

I am assuming you have a hydro unit. They are prone to some fluid noise. Does you loader operate smoothly or is it jumpy? Does the noise persist when operating the loader? How about when you put the system into relief by moving the loader cyl. to the max and holding the stick for a bit? ....

NO, THE NOISE IS OFF AND ON, LETS SAY EVERY 3 SECONDS, AND IS THERE REGARDLESS IF I'M USING THE LOADER, BACKHOE OR JUST LETTING IT IDLE. IT DOES GET LOUDER IF I RAISE THE RPMS. WHEN I PLACE MY HAND ON THE PIPING ON THE LEFT SIDE ABOVE THE FILTER, YOU CAN FEEL THE NOISE AT THE SAME TIME YOU HEAR IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE AIR IN THE SYSTEM??? AND YES, IT IS A HYDRO TC45.BOTH THE LOADER AND BACKHOE SEEM TO RUN VERY SMOOTH?????? ....

I would say that there is air in the system. Over time the air will more than likely find its way out. ....

The symptons you describe are weird since you say the noise is present even when the tractor is just setting there at an idle. Do you have two hard plumbed hydraulic lines that are rubbing? You could have a noisy relief valve or one that is improperly set.
If the noise was present only when operating the hydraulics or moving with a hydro, I would expect one of two things.
1. My Cadet also acts that way when the hydraulic filter gets clogged and collapses giving intermittent flow similar to what air in the system does. Makes similar noise too!
2. Modern tractors have self bleeding hydraulic systems and by cycling the loader full up and full down several times usually gets rid of the air, if it is working properly. ....

I AM QUITE SURE THAT MY LINES ARE NOT HITTING EACH OTHER. I DID TRY CYCLING MY LOADER AND BACKHOE TO REMOVE AIR BUT HAD NO RESULTS. BUT YES, IT MOST DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE AIR IN THE LINES. I ONLY HAVE 14 HRS ON THE MACHINE, I'LL GIVE IT ALITTLE MORE TIME TO WORK ITSELF OUT. I HAVE TRIED ANOTHER UNIT AND LISTENED FOR THE SOUND AND COULD NOT HEAR IT.?????? ....

You might want to check your bypass valve, normally located on the top of your filter. It will sound like a vibrating/chatter caused when the bypass valve cycles from open to closed. Common cause can be water in your oil, check your oil for a milky appearance.

In general if the system is sucking even a little air it will aerate the fluid which will cause the pump to cavitate (and will cause rapid pump wear).
The above will also happen if the reservoir is too low, so check it.
Either check the system reservoir for foamy oil (by the dip stick) or slightly crack open a larger volume hydraulic line and check for foamy oil spurting/spraying out (if you're not familar with doing this---take it to a dealer as you may injure yourself with high pressure fluid which can rupture or even cut flesh or get in your eyes)
Also the wrong fluid---even from the factory--will cause aeration. For example my NH skid steer uses 10W-30 motor oil for hyraulic fluid, but my NH TC33D uses something like very thin motor oil but it's not. Yet my backhoe uses automatic trans fluid.

I HAVE NOT YET CURED MY CHATTER NOISE IN MY HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. I THINK OLD RENTAL MAY BE RIGHT WITH THE BYPASS VALVE CHATTERING? THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO TRY A NEW FILTER, BUT THAT DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. HOW IS THE BYPASS VALVE SERVICED?? FLUID IS NOT MILKY, SO I DO NOT SUSPECT PUMP CAVITATION! ....

If your oil is foaming because it is sucking air through a return line it will look foamy right after you shut down, but clear up overnight. You can normally find the sucking line by applying 3-5 psi to your fill port and seeing where it comes out with soapy water.
If your oil is contaminated with water it will look milky and will not clear up.
A bypass valve is essentially a steel ball held in place by a spring. When the pressure gets high enough to overcome the spring the ball moves back relieving pressure. As soon as the pressure is relieved the spring forces the ball forward closing the bypass port. This cycling open to closed causes the chatter.
If your oil is not foaming or milky you can eliminate a couple of issues.
If your unit was delivered new it came with factory-installed oil in it, I doubt the factory put the wrong stuff in it.
My bet is you have a faulty valve or the pressure is set (above the pressure bypass) too high. The easiest thing to check is the pressure.
Your dealer needs to solve this problem by replacing the valve or setting the pressure. Your warranty was not free you paid for it. That’s why you bought new. Make the dealer fix it.
